Gerald “Gerry” Hess, 88, of Apalachin passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  Gerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine Hess; three children and their spouses,
Kathleen Greer, Steven and Sommer Hess, Alan and Angelina Hess; two granddaughters, Rachel and Emily Greer.  Gerry graduated from Bergenfield High School, Bergenfield, NJ and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  After the service, he graduated from Newark College of Engineering, Newark, NJ.  Gerry retired after 33 years of service from IBM.  He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Union Church having served as an elder and member of the choir.  Gerry volunteered with the Waterman Conservation Center and enjoyed teaching the youth about nature.  He also volunteered with AARP as a tax consultant.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Union Church, Owego.   The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.   Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald Hess’s memory to the Music Department of Frist Presbyterian Union Church, P.O. Box 355, Owego, NY  13827 or Fred L.
