Obituary of Cyrus F. Strever

Cyrus  “Cy” F. Strever, 86, of Candor, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017.  Cy was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Laura Strever; two brothers, Frank and Raymond Strever.  He is survived by his wife of 64 1/2 years, Betty Strever; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Brian Bokar, Elaine Amoroso, Suzanne and Josesph Carucci; five grandchildren, Christina (Nicholas) Sterchak, Karl (Arminda) Mattoon Pletl, Thomas Pletl and Kendall Wolven, Andrew Carucci, Michael Carucci; three great-grandchildren, Brooksanna Sterchak, Samantha Sterchak, Jack Mattoon Pletl; several nieces and nephews.  Cy taught school for 38 years and retired in 1992 from the Johnson City School District.  He was a member of the Johnson City Unity Lodge #970, Stowell Chapter #495 O.E.S., and the Kalurah Shrine of Endicott.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY with the Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.  with Masonic Services being conducted at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Cy’s memory to the Candor Emergency Squad, P.O.
