Obituary of Sheila Marie Fullerton

Sheila Marie (Whalen) Fullerton, 85, formerly of Candor, NY, passed December 21, 2020 at UHS Senior Living at Ideal in Endicott, NY. Born in Wanamie, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Finn) Whalen. On Sept 21, 1957, Sheila married Joseph T. Fullerton. Joe worked for IBM, so they moved a few times, starting their family of six children in Maine, then moving to New York, New Jersey, back to New York, and then retiring in Pennsylvania. While in New York, Sheila was active in their church, St. Francis of Assisi in Catatonk, and volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels and Tioga County Rural Ministry. She enjoyed donating to various charities for children. When Joe retired, they enjoyed many years of traveling, and Joe offered to take over the cooking and cleaning. Eventually, they became regulars at Smuggler’s Cove and Triplets Diner in the Poconos, where they were warmly greeted several times a week for dinner. Sheila and Joe were blessed with 62 years together, until his death November 20, 2019. Sheila was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Michael “Jim” (Kate), John (Peg), and Brian. Sheila is survived by her 6 children: Thomas (Cindy), Wade, NC; Dennis (Laura), Converse, TX; Molly (Rick), Candor, NY; Jeanne (Tim), McKean, PA; Fran (Jim), Valatie, NY; and Joseph, Groton, NY; 11 grandchildren: Amy, Dan, Colleen, Christine, Theresa, Jessica, Kristy, Kristi, Sarah, Brittany, and Fiona; and 10 great-grandchildren: Zachary, Madeline, Ian, Ruby, Sebastian, Lily, Kimmy, Mason, Rachel and Logan. She is also survived by her brothers Terry (Sandy) and Joe (Hazel). Funeral services will be private, but live streamed for those not in attendance on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 12:00 noon at www.emfaheyfunrealhome.com. Burial will occur at the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA. Memorial remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
