John T. (Jack) Cahill, 87, of Endicott, formerly of Owego and Oswego, New York passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 28th. He was predeceased by his parents William Stanton Cahill and Ruth Mae Quirk Cahill, of Oswego, NY. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Loretta Sanyshyn Cahill; his children John (Vicky) Cahill, Susan Cahill Phillips, Vicki (Don) Castellucci and Karen Cahill Sullivan; grandchildren, Mike and Kimberly Fesler, Joshua and Jarred Cahill, Donald and Lauren Castellucci, Liam Sullivan, Ryan and Joshua Goodwin; great grandchildren, Luke, Caroline and Liam Fesler, Aliyah Cahill and Alex, Luke and Megan Phillips; sister, Anne (Jack)Vogel; brother, William (Anne) Cahill.; many nieces and nephews and was active with many close friends during his retirement. Jack was born in Fulton, NY and grew up in Oswego. He attended St Mary’s Elementary School and Oswego High School. He attended SUNY Oswego and earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts. He also received an M.S. Degree in Education from Elmira College. He pursued further studies at Cornell University. Jack was extremely proud of having served in the U.S. Army on the Admiral W.S. Sims, AP127. Jack taught Industrial Arts and Driver Education for 27 years at Owego Free Academy. Any drafting areas were of great interest to him. He always would speak of his former students and his always interesting driver education experiences. He also worked as a Technical Illustrator on many commercial and federal projects. At OFA he was Industrial Arts Technology Chair, Practical Arts Chair, Senior Subject Coordinator and a District Wide Director. Jack was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and a Life Member of the DAV, Cincinnati, Oh and DAV Memorial Chapter 60, Binghamton, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main Street, Owego. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY.
