I was sort of a neighbor of Vaughn's. I lived about half a mile as the crow flies behind Vaughn and Jean on Dominic Road. I exercise walked past Vaughn's place two or three times a week and I would stop every so often so that we could chat a bit. I first met Vaughn at IBM Owego. I was a secretary in the earlier days and he was in control of the Reproduction area in Engineering I Building. We secretaries had to take our large repro and drawing print jobs to Vaughn for copying and sometimes, actually most of the time, the jobs were HOT. Vaughn always came through and completed my urgent requests, making me look good to the folks I was supporting. He never complained about all the urgent requests, he just did his best to fulfill them. He was a great team player. Back in the early days, the dress code for men was suit and tie. I will never forget Vaughn's bow tie that he sported each day. He was a very unique person. A man of very little words and all business, and a very nice person to work with. Vaughn and Jean shared with me once during one of those chatting sessions, the very large family they had. They were so very proud of all the grandchildren and great grandchildren they had. My condolences to the family. God Bless.
