Obituary of Bonnie Mae Frutchey

Bonnie Mae Frutchey, 79, of Owego passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Willow Point Nursing Home. Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Neal and Ethel DeYoung; husband, Burton Frutchey; six brothers and a sister. She is survived by her children, Renee’ (Frank) Roma of Endicott, T. Gary (Donna) Allen of Endicott, and Patricia (Jim) Singer of Norristown, PA; step-son, Scott Frutchey; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and her special caregiver, Rebecca Birmingham. Bonnie was very proud of her Dutch ancestry. She was one who loved to wander traveling the world by visiting Germany, Holland and Canada, and the continental US. She lived in and visited many of the states. She was a treasure hunter who could always be found frequenting local thrift stores. Bonnie was a member of the Camera Club of Owego capturing many great photos of the area, which won her many ribbons. She had a green thumb for her house plants, nursing sick ones back to health and rooting from her “grandparent plants.” Bonnie was in charge of the Baptist Church Clothing Center for many years and a member of the Ladies “In As Much” Circle of the church. She was also proud of her family’s antique automobile collection. Bonnie was a self-taught seamstress who created clothes that were designer quality for family, friends and church functions. Bonnie’s final gift to Burt was to come to him on his birthday. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 11:00 at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Family invites friends to call from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
