Marlene A. Boland, 82, of Owego passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Wilson Regional Medical Center after a fall that caused head trauma and a brain injury. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Mary Norton Boland; and brother, Charles Boland. Marlene is survived by her cousins, James Boland Sr of FL, Rosemary Holoboski of Tioga Center, Daniel Boland of NC, David Boland of Owego, Richard Boland of Owego, Nancy DeSantis of Owego, Judy DeSantis of Owego, Robin Inger of CT, Peter Boland of CT, Carol Toner of Johnson City, Joe Toner of Johnson City, Shirley Gilligan of Johnson City, Tom Toner of NC, and Bev Brozetti of Binghamton. Marlene was a life member of St. Patrick’s Church of Owego. She was a proud flood survivor in Owego, surviving the 2006 and 2011 floods, but the 2011 flood claimed her home and belongings at 32 William Street in Owego. She was a 1950 graduate of Owego Free Academy. Marlene retired after 38 years of service at IBM Glendale in Endicott. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Tioga County Rural Ministry for many years here in Owego. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego with Rev. Thomas Valenti officiating with burial to follow in the perish cemetery. Family invites friends to call on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 1 to 3 PM at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. Memorial donations may be made in Marlene’s name to Owego Fire and Rescue, PO Box 22, Owego, NY 13827.
