Obituary of Joseph Michael Hopkins

Joseph M. “Big Guy” Hopkins, 62, of Owego lost his courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Bessie and Robert Hopkins, and brother Sonny. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Amy) Hopkins and James Hopkins; his pride and joy his grandchildren, Abigail and Sophia Hopkins; sister Polly (Norman) French; numerous extended family members and friends. Joe was a life member and past Chief of the Owego Fire Department and a retired truck driver of Dimon & Bacorn, Inc. He was a loving father and grandfather, a good neighbor and friend, he will be missed very much. The family would like to thank the compassionate and dedicated team at Robert Packer Hospital, for their care of Joe over the past several weeks, and also Dr. Friedburg and the staff at the Wilmont Cancer Center. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
