Obituary of Doris Estelle Hyatt

Doris E. Hyatt, 95, of Candor, NY went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Hyatt and her brothers, David Ayres, RQ Ayers, Newton Ayers, Martin Ayers & William Ayers. She is survived by her three daughters, Valerie Martin, of Mansfield TX, (son-in-law, Robert Martin), Laura Hyatt (Richard) Carle, of Owego NY, Michelle Hyatt of Middletown CT; three grandchildren; Torie Martin of Melbourne FL, Andrew Martin of Mansfield TX, Sarah Martin of Johns Island SC. Doris was born as Doris Estelle Ayers on August 27, 1926 in Austin, TX. She was the only girl with five brothers. Doris met her husband in San Antonio where he was stationed in the Army/Air Force in 1942. They married in San Antonio in 1943 and returned to his home in Candor NY. Doris was always a Texas girl at heart, visiting her brothers as often as she could, but chose to stay in Candor, enjoying her friendships and being a part of the community. Doris worked many jobs including Pollworker, Candor Village Clerk, check out at Hollenbeck's store in Candor. She retired from Emerson Electric (formerly Morse Chain/Borg Warner) in Ithaca. Doris was an active member of McKendree Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Private burial will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY with a memorial service to be held on her birthday August 27, 2022 at McKendree Methodist Church.
