Obituary of Kathleen Grace Bowen
Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathleen "Kathy" Bowen, 86, of Campville, NY passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Douglas Bowen, Sr. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Susan Bowen; George and Jana Bowen; four grandchildren, David (Krissy) Bowen, Samantha Bowen (Mark Brown), Charlsie Bowen, Malley Bowen; cousin, Robert (Lynn) Brooks. Kathy worked for over 40+ years for Grandway/K-Mart of Endicott, but her primary love was for horses (and dogs, cats, birds, etc.). One of her first jobs was training Tennessee Walking horses for Mr. Rice and then after getting married (of course mom & dad met at a horse show) and having kids, showing horses, being involved with Tioga County 4-H and forcing the rest of us to show them as well was her real-life works. She was a tough coach but took great pride in all of us (the horse usually got most of the credit). Her ideal home was at the end of a dirt road with a house and barn full of animals. The priority at home was that the animals got fed first, and then the humans. Haying season was always a stressful time because if the hay got rained on, we all suffered, the experience was all worth it. Private services will be held at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. Burial will be in the Ararat Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy Bowen's memory to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760 or Stray Haven Humane Society, 194 Shepherd Rd., Waverly, NY 14892. Condolences may be made to Kathy's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
