Obituary of Clifford Eugene Thomas

Clifford "Gene" Thomas, 88, of Candor, NY passed away Monday, December 19, 2022. Gene was born in Endicott, NY to the late Edward Thomas and Mary Berezich. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Myra Thomas. Gene is survived by his six children and their spouses, Jill and Paul Tubbs, Clifford "Geno" Jr, and Kristen Thomas, Greg Thomas, Lisa Thomas, Chad Thomas, Christopher and Jennifer Thomas; 13 grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren. Gene is a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired his career as a heavy equipment operator for IUOE Local #832. He was very community minded and volunteered for many Candor community events. Gene will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed joking around with his friends and loved ones. He was an avid outdoorsman and marksman. He was very creative and enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was making Christmas crafts, woodworking and carving or building houses. Gene loved his family and all of his grandchildren and never missed a sporting event, cheering them on! Gene enjoyed a cup of coffee and conversation, always giving you his time and attention. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY with the Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 27, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
