Obituary of William Andrew Campbell

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William A. Campbell, 70, of Owego, NY died in the morning on April 3, 2023 after a short, valiant fight with cancer. A graduate of Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio, he also earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Cornell University. A graphic designer and printer by trade, Bill owned the business of Ithaca Process Graphics for many years. He was a loving husband, fond of relating the story of how he first met Diane at a favorite live music venue in Ithaca. After seeing her walk in, he quickly decided that she was the one for him. He was also an analytical and deeply creative person, expressed in countless ways, such as creating a choreographed lip sync dance for his triplet daughters for the 1992 Spencer Picnic, in his graphic design work and also in his work for the soccer community. A loving father, Bill was known for his rock and roll history lessons and appreciation for fine food, conversation, and craft beer. He was proud to raise his triplet daughters to be strong, independent women. Bill was also well-known for his faithful service to the soccer community within Western New York. He was the New York State West Administrator for youth soccer. He especially believed in and encouraged the gifts of young referees. He was a former soccer coach and also a referee instructor, mentor, assigner and overall League coordinator, including for the New York State Cup. Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, H. William Campbell and Illa Grace Trott Campbell of Akron, Ohio, and his beloved cat, Micky. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane M. Smith Campbell, who was the gem of his life, and triplet daughters, Morgan I. Campbell of Syracuse, NY, Lorna C. Campbell (Will Espe) of Fargo, North Dakota and Elizabeth G. Campbell-Maleke (Raymond) of Williamstown, WV and grandsons Caleb Andrew and Daniel John Maleke. There will be an outdoor Celebration of Life/Memorial service scheduled for this summer that will take place on a soccer field, likely at Hickories Park. Notice of this service date will be given well in advance so family and friends can attend. Condolences may be made to Bill's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
