Obituary of Jean Gertrude Andrews

In loving memory of Jean Gertrude Cronce 12/05/1925 –8/15/23 It is with great sorrow the Andrews family announces the passing of our kind, strong, caring matriarch, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Jean Gertrude Cronce Andrews, of Danville, PA, passed away on August 15, 2023 at the "young" age of 97. Jean was lovingly raised as a foundling by Lou and Maude Thomas Hogeland, aka Jean Hogeland. She loved and enjoyed the Thomas family as her own, along with her step-brother, Frank Hogeland. Jean is predeceased by her husband, George A. Andrews Sr.; twin children, Richard and Elizabeth; her parents, George R. Cronce Sr. and Gertrude G. Thompson Cronce, as well as four siblings. Jean is survived by her four children, Patricia M. Andrews, RN, Carolyn R. Novak, George A. Andrews, PhD, Mary E. Dunkelberger, RN, as well as her 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Jean is survived by her two sisters, Davida P. Fornarotto and Pearl A. Cronce; brother-in-law; Jack Andrews and his wife, Betty; niece, Betty Jean Connelly; nephew; Jack Andrews Jr. Jean was born in Lambertville, N.J. She was a graduate of Palmyra High School, N.J. Her home was Paige Lake PA, along with various settlements throughout N.J and PA. As she aged, she was cared for by family and in her last years, she was cared for by a wonderful nursing staff at M.J.E in Danville, P.A. Jean was a talented musician and artist. She always had something to do. The walls of her families' homes display her paintings. Strong willed, Jean, fervently loved nature and pets. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, N.Y.
