Dad united with the love of his life on May 14, 1950, celebrating a remarkable union of 1 month short of 64 years until her passing. Serving in the US Marines during World War II and the Korean War, he achieved the rank of sergeant. Following 32 years of dedicated service with Cargill Salt in Lansing, NY, he retired, surpassing his years of employment and relishing every moment of retirement. An avid gardener and chef, he delighted in preparing meals for everyone. His passions included NASCAR, college basketball teams such as the University of North Carolina, Duke, and Syracuse, as well as cherished family gatherings. Additionally, he held a special affection for his four-legged grand-pup, Sampson and his canine little buddy, Dusty. In years past, he cherished the annual clambakes he organized for what seemed like for the local community, a time that held a special place in his heart. During his last three years at Beechtree Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, he found joy in the company of family and friends, relished moments spent reading, and held a special bond with his favorite therapist, Darlene "Rosie" Rose. His daily ritual of enjoying a beer became a cherished routine, providing him the resilience to approach the remarkable age of almost 101.
