Richard "Popeye" Judge, Sr. passed away January 11th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY. He was 78 years old. He was born on July 11th, 1945 in Johnson City. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert Judge and Pearl Curtis-Judge-Myer-Snow; two brothers, Buddy and Ronnie Judge; sister, Sylvia; nine step-siblings (Kurtz's); grandson, Skyler Judge, and his old biker buddy, Butch Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Walker Judge; son, Richard Judge, Jr., three daughters, Deborah Spencer (Shane), Christine Bishop and Michelle Jastremsky (Keith); seven grandsons, Dylan, Ryan, Alex, Kyle, Todd, Michael and Jean; two granddaughters, Kaylee and Kendra; great-granddaughter, Zoey; sister, Helen Wells (Dick); several nieces and nephews. Richard attended Owego Free Academy and worked 20+years as a dump truck driver for Lopke, Inc. He started the Lopke Reunion Breakfast, which he enjoyed attending each month. He enjoyed Ham Fests and going to livestock auctions with his daughter and granddaughters. Richard was well known to all CB truckers as "Popeye" and was well liked and loved by everyone who met him. He had his own way of making friends and was never afraid to tell anyone how it was, always speaking his mind about anything and everything. He was a big strong guy, willing to help anyone, "even if it was against his better judgement." He did everything his way, and will be forever missed by the many people who loved him. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY with Rev. Melvin Foster, officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday Evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
