Marvin Chester Kafka, born October 5, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana, passed away in Binghamton, NY on January 25, 2024. Marvin served in the United States Air Force before receiving his bachelor's degree in Engineering from Perdue University. He then accepted a position with IBM until his retirement. Marvin enjoyed his retirement in Owego, NY before moving to Sparta, TN with his wife, Mary, where he loved to woodwork and was an avid reader, especially of Sherlock Holmes. Marvin is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary; his parents, Chester and Carrie Kafka; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Kafka. He is survived by his four children, Kristopher (Shelly) Kafka, Kenneth (Sherry) Kafka, Jennifer Kafka Short, Kellen (Rebecca) Kafka; his nine beloved grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Krooner, Kristin (Dan) Fody, Colleen Kafka, Michael (Louise) Kafka, Gareth (Kristen) Kafka, Courtney Ryan, Caitlin Kafka, Amanda Kafka, and Wesley (Emily Greene) Kafka; ten great-grandchildren (who he loved very much); two sisters, Martha Kugler and Annette (Terry) Krishner; sister-in-law, Mona Kafka.
