It is with great sadness we share that Thomas Edward Coveney, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon February 7, 2024 at Luxe Rehab Center in Wellington, Florida following a short illness. He was born September 27, 1942 in Waverly, New York. He was the son of Francis and Wilma (Crandall) Coveney. He was a graduate of Owego Free Academy, class of 1961. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Wilma Coveney; sister, Dolores (Coveney) Berry; three brothers, F. Joseph Coveney, Richard (Irene) Coveney, John (Elizabeth) Coveney. Thomas served in the Air Force as a military policeman and then enjoyed a long career in the furniture business in sales and management. He was a warm, personable and witty man whose Irish gift of gab allowed him to easily strike up conversations with anyone. He was known for his wonderful story telling! He was creative, artistic, had a passion for travel and loved animals. Thomas leaves to cherish his memory: his nieces, Kelly (Eric)Hawkins, Teri Scales, Kim (Rene) Viau, Robin Wolf, Cheryl (John) Roggow, LuAnn Grimes, Chris Coveney, Karen (Brian) McGavin; his nephews, Michael (Cynthia) Berry, John (Mary) Coveney, Kevin (Paula) Coveney, Bill (Phyllis) Palmer, as well as many great nieces and nephews and a multitude of wonderful friends. He will be very much missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main Street, Owego, NY. Burial will follow at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park, 3997 Vestal Road, Vestal, New York. The family will receive friends Monday, February 19th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY.
