From a very young age, I attended Catatonk Baptist Church where Fred Middaugh, who I will always refer to as “Pastor”, was my pastor. He led that church as long as I can remember and we had such a close bond - our family and everyone in that church. It was because of Pastor, that we had that. We all shared some enjoyable moments (VBS, church picnics and Sunday dinners) as well as difficult moments (losing loved ones) but he was always there through all of it to support not only our family but all the other families in the church. There isn’t a time I can remember without Pastor in my life. He was a great man and a wonderful leader. Our church family was always so very close, and it was because of him. He was a large part of my coming to accept Jesus into my life and I’m forever grateful for that - that’s a gift that will last my entire lifetime here and onward. Throughout your lifetime, people will come along who have a significant impact on it, and he was one of those people. To the Middaugh family: My love and prayers are all with you. Though it’s been some time since I’ve been to Catatonk or have seen you all - you all will always be family to me, my church family. May you all have peace in knowing that we will see him again one day. I’m sure he’s sitting with my grandpa right now, comparing cool ties and telling jokes.
