With profound love and remembrance, we celebrate the life of John "Johnny" Carrington Wright, who at the age of 82, departed this world to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2024. His passing occurred peacefully at his Owego, NY home encircled by the warmth of his family, after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma Cancer.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, Johnny was the son of the late George R. and Annie F. (Tuggle) Wright, hailing from Appomattox, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Wright, and his sister Joan Holdren.
Johnny's memory is cherished by his devoted wife of 54 years, G. Jane Wright; his daughters, Elizabeth Cavanagh (née Wright) alongside her husband Jeff Cavanagh, and Mary Reeves (née Wright) with her husband Shane Reeves; his adored granddaughters, Alannah, and Kaitlyn Reeves; his brother J. David Wright and sister-in-law Julia Wright; his sister Rebecca Owens; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
A man of unwavering faith, Johnny deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Together with his wife, Jane, he was actively engaged in their church's ministries, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to faith and fellowship.
Johnny served with honor in the U.S. Navy, traversing the globe during his distinguished twenty-year career. He later retired from BWXT Nuclear Operations in Lynchburg, VA.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, at 11 am at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, located at 15 Park St., Owego, NY 13827. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories starting at 10:45 am on the day of the service.
