David Rogers, 88, of Owego, NY passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 surrounded by his two daughters. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jenness Roach Rogers; two sisters, Helen Wilson, June Rogers; three brothers, Joseph, Roger, and George; his two wives, Cora Jean Pell Rogers, Roxanna Wyka) Andrews Rogers; step son, Scott Andrews . Dave is survived by his two daughters, Mary Flanagan, Judith Rogers and her fiancé, Patricio Cacho, Jr.; four stepchildren and their spouses, Julie Rohland, Alison and Tim Wainwright, Tyler and Alison Andrews, Annette Chamberlain; two grandchildren, Ray Fanagan, Jacob'e Flanagan; step grandchildren, Erica and Trevor Andrews, Paige and Jim Rohland, Britny Wainwright, Jordan and Riley Andrews; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
David served in the U.S. Navy (1954-58). He received his BS degree from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas. He served as the Executive Director for both the Wilkinsburg Boys Club (5 years) and 27 years at the Tioga County Boys & Girls Club in Owego.
He was past president of the Wilkinsburg, PA Jaycees, the Wilkinsburg Kiwanis Club, and the Owego Kiwanis Club. He was active in the Owego United Methodist Church; a member of the BPOE #1039 Elks for 30 years; a Kiwanis member for 44 years with 38 years perfect attendance; a member of the Tioga Cemetery Board and Owego Golden Age Club, and served on the Advisory Board of the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation.
He loved and played sports including baseball, softball, basketball and golf. He was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.
Although he received many awards in his lifetime, he was most proud of "The Man & Youth," "Service to Youth," and the "Bronze Keystone w/Silver Star" from Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY with the Rev. Nancy Adams and Rev. Brian Scanlon, officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery, Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
