Obituary of Eugene Willard Donnellan

Eugene W. "Gene" Donnellan, 96, of Owego, NY, passed away peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital, Friday, August 23, 2024. Gene was born December 10th, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Thomas and Edna (Flynn) Donnellan. He was predeceased by his adored wife of 58 years, Audrey; daughter, Janine Marie; three brothers, Bernard, James and Robert Donnellan; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and John Looby. On February 7th, 1959, Gene married the love of his life, Audrey A. Agnello, the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Gallo) Agnello, in Jamaica, NY. Gene leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Sharon, their son, Aidan, and daughter, Alena, of Cedar Park, Texas; two daughters, Laurel, of Douglas, Michigan, Marissa Rose, of Easthampton, MA, and her daughter, Katya Raffensperger, of London, UK. Gene graduated from Saint Ignatius High School and studied Electrical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology, both in Chicago. In 2022 IIT Armour College of Engineering awarded him Academic Distinction in Engineering. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy which he joined to "see the world". However, during WWII and the Korean conflict, he saw only as far as Texas and Hawaii, respectively. He was employed by IBM at Kingston, NY and Owego, NY, from 1956 to 1989. He was addicted to his family, golf, Sudoku and New York Times crossword puzzles; all other activities were just habits, good or bad. A private family memorial will be held this fall.
