He and his daughter Alexis, created and led an event to feed the community called "Feed the 5,000". He loved his community and served it by volunteering at the Bread of Life Food Pantry, the Candor Fire Department Auxiliary, in Candor, NY, and was Squadron Leader of Civil Air Patrol in Owego, NY. He also served on the Candor School Board for three years and was a member of the Candor Booster Club. Before his illness, he enjoyed golfing, listening to bands, and dancing.
