Obituary of Marvin Wayne Hammond

Marvin W. Hammond, 88, formerly of Owego, NY, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Braintree, MA. Marvin was born in Winter Park, FL to the late Howard G. Hammond and Gladys (Palmer) Sanyshyn.  Marvin worked as division manager of ARA Coffee Systems of New England for many years before starting his own coffee and vending company, Advance Services, Inc., which was operating in Hanover, MA for nearly 15 years. It was a family operation employing several of his children over the years. He and his wife would go on to expand the business to Western Maine before selling and retiring to Upstate New York. Marvin was also a talented musician and performed in many bands throughout his life, several of which included his wife and some of their children. Marvin also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his spare time, he could often be found in his home recording studio writing and singing or hosting a karaoke get-together with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  Along with his parents, Marvin was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Cherylann “Sherry” Hammond; sons Douglas Hammond and Dale Hammond; 3 brothers Ronald Hammond, Melvin Hammond, and Mervin Hammond. Marvin is survived by his children Deborah Sylvia of Brockton, MA, Glenn Hammond and his wife MeShay of Brockton, MA, Rhonda Briscoe and her husband John of Hanson, MA, Gordon Hammond and his wife Helen of Glade Springs, VA, Kelly Anderson and her fiancé, Bob of Owego, NY and Jayme Hammond of Waverly, NY.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Mitchell Hammond, Shaun Hammond, Jeanette Hammond, Jennifer McKay, John Briscoe Jr., Sheldon Hammond, Corey Hammond, Jeanna Hammond, Christopher Hammond, Arianna Anderson, Amanda Hammond, and Tyler Hammond along with 6 great-grandchildren, extended family and many dear friends.  Graveside services will be held on November 8th at 3:00 pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY.
