Obituary of Helen M. Schoonover

Helen M. Schoonover, 92, of Tioga Center, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. Helen was born in Owego, New York the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Kinney) Dubisch. Mrs. Schoonover was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Burton Schoonover; three sons, Nicholas, Joseph and Gary Schoonover. She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Sally Schoonover, Tioga Center, Bonnie Schoonover, Sidney; four granchildren, Nicholas and Tammy Schoonover, Mark and Tammy Schoonover, Elizabeth and Jon McCarthy, Julia Schoonover; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Shelby, James and Justin; several nieces and nephews; dear friends, Jim and Judy Stewart, Charlotte Baker . Helen was graduated from the Owego Free Academy, class of 1941. During her school years she enjoyed swimming, tennis, field hockey and bike riding. In her later years, she enjoyed painting watercolors and working with counted cross stitching. Helen will be remembered for her love of God, family and home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tioga Center United Methodist Church, 3022 State Route 17C, Tioga Center. Burial will follow in the Schoonover Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
