Obituary of Neil H. Garges

Neil Garges, 82, passed away November 1, 2015, ending many long years of suffering. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; his son, Ken, of Santa Cruz, California; brother, Alan, of North Fort Myers, Florida; several loving nieces and nephews. Neil was an engineering graduate of Purdue University, he served as a navy officer during the Korean War. Later he worked as a mechanical engineer in Wisconsin and West Virginia before coming to IBM as a scientific programmer. He enjoyed long-distance bicycling and most of all, playing his saxophone and clarinet in community bands, such as the Kirby Band, the IBM Band, the Maine Band, Melody Masters, and Blue Velvet. Services will be held Wednesday, November 11th, at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Neil's memory to a charity of one's choice.
