Obituary of Lillian May Hover

Lillian May (VanVorce) Hover, of Candor, died Peacefully, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Elderwood Nursing Facility in Waverly NY, at the age of 93. Lillian is survived by her children: Ronald Raymond Hover, Donald Nelson Hover, Terry Wayne Hover and Tamara Fawn (Hover) Donnelly, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings: Anna Mauche, Catherine Hess, Charles VanVorce, Loretta Nelson and Guy VanVorce and numerous nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by husband Raymond Nelson Hover; her daughter Patricia Lillian (Hover) Benedict and by her siblings: Alice Jeffery, Helen Chrysler, Mary Slater, Marcus VanVorce, Robert VanVorce, and Hazel Monroe Lillian was born on July 31, 1922, to Harry and May VanVorce She married Raymond Hover January 27, 1941. Over 75 years the couple welcomed 5 children into their home and Lillian set about teaching them to fish, camp, hunt, make maple syrup, catch a baseball, cook, and clean. Her children remember Lillian as a strong caring persistent mother who encouraged them to be independent and pursue their goals. Lillian enjoyed nature, gardening, the adventure of traveling, creating crafts, and hiking the Appalachian Trail. In honoring Lillian’s wishes, services will be private.
