Obituary of Katherine Szlucha

Katherine “Kathy” Szlucha, 77, of Owego passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 3, 2016. Kathy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Walter; daughter, Melanie Szlucha; several nieces and nephews. Kathy worked at GE, then moved on to work at IBM for many years as an indispensable secretary to managers. She enjoyed the kids and teachers as a secretary at St. Patrick’s School. As office manager of St. Patrick’s Church, she cared deeply about running the church well. Kathy was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Patrick’s Church and was known for her great sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh. She will be remembered for her love of word puzzles, reading the newspaper and was an avid fan of the Young and the Restless on TV. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego, NY. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & FaheyFuneral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY with a Rosary Service to be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Katherine Szlucha’s memory to the Tioga County Rural Ministry, 143 North Avenue, Owego, NY 13827.
