Obituary of Evelyn Lois Sparling

Evelyn Lois (Knights) Sparling, 78, of Candor passed away very suddenly, Wednesday, July 6, 2016. She was recvovering from major ssurgery prompted by her zest for an active family and social life. She leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Leonard A. Spaulding; their children, Steven A. (Debbie) Sparling, Linda (Gary) Homer, Matthew J. (Amber Carmon) Sparling; four grandchildren, Ashley, Katrina, Colleen, Adam; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Jackson, Amelia, Evelyn and the newest, Sawyer; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Breck Bowdish; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, Arlene Moyer, Jeanne Meddaugh. Evelyn was an active member of the Caroline Center Church, a participating member of the McKendree United Methodist Church Women, a former president of Candor Senior Citizens and current president of the Spencer Senior Citizens. Evelyn loved to read, knitting, especially for her great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her generous heart, her faith and service to others and her fierce personality. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Caroline Center Church, 760 Buffalo Road, Caroline Center, NY. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
