Howard H. Emery, 86, of Elmira passed away at home on October 26, 2016. Born on August 25, 1930 the son of the late, Charles Joseph and Eula Beatrice King Emery. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings; Frances Siegard, Ruth Van de Bogart, Kenneth Emery, and Lois Traver. A sister, Florence Hill, of Monroe, Ohio , survives him. On October 18, 1957, he married Monica Fuller. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their four children; Kathleen (Glenn) Hartman, Joanne (David) Bolyard, Daniel (Jennifer) Emery, and Raymond (Ann) Emery. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Howard grew up on Bald Hill Road in Danby during the depression years. As a child he saw many of his friends move away. He never lost his love of the area and over the years many hours were spent with his children hiking the Danby forest and sharing the history of the area through the many wonderful stories he told. After retiring from Emerson Power Transmission, Howard greatly enjoyed travelling the country with Monica. Howard was a wonderful husband and father. He was generous, kind and compassionate. He never missed an opportunity to provide guidance and instruction. He will be missed by all those that knew him. The family would like to thank Cree, Chris, Krystal, Mary and Hope for the caring, excellent care they provided over the last year of his life. Also, the family wishes to thank CareFirst of Corning for their wonderful support these past few weeks. Funeral services on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Spencer, NY. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral Home.
