Donald W. Galpin, 91, of Owego passed away Wednesday Evening, November 23, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family. Don was predeceased by his parents, James and Eugenia Galpin, three brothers, Victor, Howard, James. Don is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Helen Galpin; two children and their spouses, Donna and John Loomis, Owego, Brian and Karen Galpin, Apex, NC; four grandchildren and their spouses, John (Colleen) Loomis, Justin (Sara) Loomis, Taylor (Wendell) Zeigler, Kelcie Galpin and her fiance, Bryan Cardoso; eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Riley, Laura, Flynn and Teagan Loomis, Anderson Zeigler, Evan Galpin, Val Cardoso; several nieces, nephews and special in-laws, Cloyd and Beverly Manzer. Don was born in Central Square, NY and came to the Weltonville area at an early age. He was a medic in the U.S. Navy having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Don worked at GLF that later became Agway. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Owego, Owego Elks Lodge #1039, VFW Post #1371 and the American Legion Post #401. His greatest treasure was his wife and his family. He will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. Burial will follow in the Tioga Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Donald W.
