Obituary of Richard Arnold Herbert

Richard A. “Dick” Herbert, 79, of Owego, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Richard was born April 14, 1937 on the family farm, Catlin Hill Road, Owego to the late, Abner and Leora Herbert. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Hutchison. He is survived by his three siblings, Charlotte Baker, Tioga Center, Sue Dunning, Owego, Jim and Eileen Herbert, Smithboro; brother-in-law, Glen Hutchison, Strongsville, OH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard enjoyed the company of many friends throughout the years. In his early years he was involved in construction. His real love was the great outdoors, farming and his cows. Having farmed first on Catlin Hill Road and later on Catatonk Hill Road. He was very proud to be a part in the building of the Tioga County Historical Museum. In later years, Richard found great enjoyment at the wood pile cutting firewood with several of his buddies. The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the staff at Absolut Care for their Kindness and compassion in caring for Richard during his stay with them. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego with the Rev. Phillip Nase, officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
