Obituary of Paul F. Sofranko
Paul F. Sofranko, 90, of Owego passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017. Mr. Sofranko is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cecilia Sofranko; son, Paul Sofranko; daughter, Janet Iyoob; two grandsons and their wives, Brian and Yuri Iyoob, Timothy and Kerri Iyoob; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and George Pastir; several nieces and nephews. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Kearsarge during WWII. Paul was a college graduate of Scranton University. After the war he worked for Daystrom Instruments and retired from IBM after 33 years of service. Paul was a life member of BPOE #1039, member of the American Legion Post #401, IBM Quarter Century Club, American Society for Quality Control, Boy Scouts of America Committee member and served on the Binghamton University Advisory Counsel for eight years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego, NY. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul F.
