Obituary of Janice A. Davis

Janice A Davis, 91, of Owego passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017.  Jan was a working mom for many years and worked for several dentists in the Owego area.  She also worked at the Elementary School in Owego after her children were raised and worked mainly with the little ones in kindergarten and first grade, her favorite ages.  Jan was a member of the Owego Garden Club and an avid gardener, keeping her gardens and the hill behind her home a real show place with walks and resting areas down to the river.  She was also an indoor gardener with lovely growing plants and flowers in nearly every room.  One of her favorite getaways was visiting Longwood Gardens with her daughter Wendy.  Jan loved carousels and loved to visit new ones whenever she could and loved to show them to the “kids”. She was always active and enjoyed horseback riding and yoga, as well as working out at the gym from time to time.  She and her husband Will were excellent dancers and enjoyed dancing as members of the Cir-Q-Laters for many years.  Jan was born on February 24, 1926 to Herbert and Geneva (Randall) Wimer. Was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Willard J Davis, Sr; two sons, Warren Depew and Daryl Depew; granddaughter, Leanne Cardone; two sisters, Loris Whittier and Myrna Baldwin; brother, Eldred “Bud” Wimer.  Surviving are three children, Lon (JoAnn) Depew; Donna (Robert) Miller; Wendy (Wayne) Partelow; her sister, Vera Louise; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services were held privately.  Friends and family  will be apprised of a graveside and memorial service honoring Jan to be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be considered to: A New Hope Center, 20 Church St., Owego, NY 13827 or Hospicare of Ithaca, 172 E King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. The family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Groton Community Health Care Center and the staff at hospicare for the very caring, loving, and supportive care that that Jan received while in their care.
