Obituary of William H. Daniel

William H. Daniel, Jr., of Apalachin, passed away on September 9, 2018 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Dorothy (Boland) Daniel, and an infant son, Martin. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 38 years, Hazel (Hill) Daniel; daughters: Maureen Daniel, of Johnson City, Diana (Arthur) Charles, of Port Crane, and Carolyn Strano, of Fort Myers, FL; son Christopher (Tia) Daniel, of Endicott; step-daughter Lynn (Jeffrey) Warmke, of Edison, NJ; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Bill was drafted at the age of 18 into the Army Infantry and switched to the Army Air Corp, which became the US Air Force. He served two tours of duty in the Philippines, received an Honorable Discharge, and was then called back for the Korean War where he served stateside. After another Honorable Discharge, he joined the Air National Guard in Syracuse, where he retired in 1987. He retired from IBM in 1984 as a member of the Quarter Century Club. Bill was a life member of the American Legion Post 1645 in Binghamton and a life member of VFW Post 1371 in Owego, at one time serving as Commander. Bill was a true patriot who loved country life, living on a farm, driving ponies and giving wagon rides to kids. A graveside service will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park, in Vestal, NY, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 10:00 am. Condolences may be left for Bill’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
