Obituary of William F. Hess

William (Bill) F. Hess, 71, longtime resident of Apalachin, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 14, 2018. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Harrington; father-in- law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Loretta King.  Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kay (King) Hess; his beloved Great Dane, Brando; his mother, Ruth (Campbell) Harrington, of Vestal, NY; two sisters, Judy (Harrington) Woodward, and husband, John, of Norwalk, CT, Sally (Harrington) Yablonsky, and husband, Peter, of Apalachin, NY. Bill is also survived by Kay’s siblings, Paul King, David and Gail King, Charles and Jenny Fahringer, and Billie Duffek, all of Little Meadows, PA; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; best friend, Norman Friedman, Roger Cooper, David Campbell, and many other close friends from American Family Fitness. He is now in Heaven with his very favorite Great Dane, Champion Arazi. Bill was a graduate of Vestal Sr. High School, and Broome Community College. He proudly served for the United States Army and was an infantry medic in Vietnam during which time he survived “Hamburger Hill” and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals with Valor. Bill retired from IBM Endicott. Family will receive friends at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
