He was my 6th grade teacher at Dickinson Ave. Elementary in East Northport, NY. It was my mother who climbed the ladder to snap this photo that he set up of our class in 1964. as another classmate mentioned in another post. He was an incredible teacher and I'll always remember him.

Frank, you were our friend while we lived in Owego. Thank you for sharing Rose with us. We enjoyed the time we spent with the "Breakfast and Culture Club" each week. The time Frank & Frank spent at the Village meetings was always interesting. We learned so much from you and Rose. Your flower garden and green house were the source of so many lovely flowers for our house and garden. We always appreciated your kindness and wisdom. We miss you and think about you often.

Mr. Orlando was my sixth grade teacher at Dickinson Avenue Elementary School in East Northport, NY. Several years ago I discovered that he lived in Upstate NY not far from where I was living. I had the opportunity to see him at a community meeting I attended on behalf of my agency in Owego, NY. When I found out he was going to attend another of the meetings I brought with me a book that I made in his class. We had been studying the United Nations and he had each of us select one of the specialized agencies of the UN and make a linoleum block print of the agency's emblem. Then he compiled all of the prints and bound them in a book with a wooden spine. We each received a copy of this book with a complete set of these prints. In the front of the book was a group photo of the class. One of my classmates remembers that Mr. Orlando set up the shot and that her mother climbed a ladder to snap the photo! Mr. Orlando was so happy that I brought this book to show him all these years later. I am glad that I got to let him know how much he meant to me and that he was my all-time favorite teacher. From the postings on social media I see that I was not alone in these sentiments. He was appreciated and loved by his former students. My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Orlando and family. Mr. Orlando was my 4th and 5th grade teacher in about 1957. He was an amazing educator who made learning an adventure. He has always been my favorite teacher as he was for many others. My sympathies go out to his family and friends and I feel blessed to have known him.
