Obituary of Richard Lee Tulsey

Richard "Dick" Tulsey, 82, of Apalachin, NY, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Leola (Landon) Tulsey. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Sharon Tulsey; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Nicole; daughter, Suzanne Tulsey; two granddaughters, Audrey and Jaelynn; sister, Sharon O'Connor; niece, Noelle Marano-Temple; several cousins and dear friends. Dick graduated from Johnson City High School, class of 1959. In 1963, he graduated from Niagara University and joined the U.S. Army and was a first lieutenant when he was honorable discharge in 1969. He then started his teaching and coaching career with the Catholic Central School District in Binghamton and in 2005, he retired from the Tioga Central School District where he couched football, basketball and track. Dick taught for 39 years! He was very community minded and was a member of St. Patrick's Church, BPOE Elks Lodge #1039 and the Vestal Lodge #2508, active with the STOP-DWI Winter Classic Basketball Tournament and dedicated 25+ years as a Southern Tier Track Official participating in both officiating and leadership. He was an avid golfer, dart shooter and Syracuse Orangeman, N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Giants and Binghamton University fan. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main Street, Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Tuesday Evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY.
