Janet Melody Baxter, 81, passed away on Friday, January 29th surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Baxter; her mother, Judy Melody and father, James Melody. She is survived by her five children, Judy & Mike Cady, Owego, Cindy Buonomo, Endicott, Wendy & Rick Arnold, Owego, Randy & Crystal Kuklish, Endwell, and Ricky & Kathy Kuklish, Owego. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews and cherished friends. In her earlier years Janet worked as the secretary for Bob Murphy's Top Soil; a waitress at Steele's Restaurant and retired from working at the Window Broker. She was a member of Living Water's Baptist Church where she acquired many supportive and valued friendships, especially with Pastor Wayne and his wife Connie. Janet's strength always shined through her sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling, the love of her family, playing cards, anything purple and bejeweled. She requested to leave her family with the following message that she had read and admired years ago: “When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little, but not too long, remember the love we once shared, miss me-but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. Its all part of the Master's plan, a step in the road to go home. Bury your sorrows in doing good deeds, miss me – but let me go.” Janet will be dearly missed by all of her “favorites.” A celebration of Janet's life will be held at Living Water's Baptist Church in Owego on Wednesday, February 3 at 11:00am; a luncheon at the church will follow.
